Primary Schools
I have been lucky enough to take groups of primary aged students to Glentanner Park for the past decade. Glentanner is easily the most peaceful and relaxing setting that I have ever been to as part of an EOTC experience.

The cooking, dining and ablution facilities, although shared with other campers are adequate for groups of about 50 students and adults. The accommodation ranges from basic cabins to modern studio units. The cabins used by students are clean, tidy and practical.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful and they will keep in regular contact regarding your camp and realise that with any school excursion, teachers are always trying to minimize costs.

Mount Cook National Park offers a huge variety of experiences like boating on the glacial lake, tramping up the Hooker Valley, sessions with the DOC rangers or exploring the Sir Edmund Hillary centre and its planetarium.

I would recommend Glentanner Park to any school wanting to take their students on a meaningful and educational school camp experience.

We have stayed at Glenntanner Park 3 times now while using it as a base for our level 2 geographers studying the glaciated regions of the South Island High country.

It is in an ideal location and we have found the cabin configuration to be very conducive to management of our young people at night!  It’s particularly helpful having a toilet and hand basin within the cabins themselves.  The cabins are clean, modern, warm and convenient.  We have also made good use of the shared kitchen and lounge area and have appreciated being able to use the space in the evening for study time en masse.

One of the highlights for the students has been the amazing buffet meal that the restaurant provides – students often comment it is the best ‘camp food’ they have ever had.

We have really enjoyed our stays at Glentanner and have already booked in again for next year’s trip.  We have always found the staff to be very accommodating and extremely helpful and would recommend the venue to any one thinking of using it for a school trip – as long as it’s not when we want to come….
